Dr. Sean Leng is a professor and board-certified geriatrician in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.In collaboration with the PUMC Hospital, Dr. Leng has led Hopkins’ effort on geriatrics program development in China since 2006. He was among the first to establish a model for international geriatrics collaboration between the US and China with an emphasis on high quality training of geriatrics multidisciplinary workforce, a critical step for improving care for the largest aging population in the world. This pioneering work, funded by the China Medical Board, was published by the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (JAGS). To promote geriatrics principles and disseminate innovative care models to China, Dr. Leng has served as the guest editor and developed a special geriatrics series published by China Medical Tribune, a medical newspaper reaching out to two million physicians in China.

Since 2011, he has co-organized the annual PUMC – Hopkins national geriatrics conference at PUMC Hospital, Beijing, China. He has also played an important role in organizing the annual Chinese Congress of Gerontology and Health Industry (CCGI) conference and leading the effort editing a dedicated JAGS supplement issue each year publishing meritorious scientific abstracts presented at the conference. Dr. Leng has served as Special International Expert Adviser for the Chinese Geriatrics Society, Chinese Medical Association. In 2014, he served as one of the two teaching professors for the first Advanced Training Course in Geriatric Medicine (ATCGM) organized by the Chinese Geriatrics Society and Ministry of Health.
