Dr. Pasquale Patrizio is an internationally known, board-certified, specialist in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Andrology and holds a Master in Bioethics.  He is Professor and Director, Yale University Fertility Center and Fertility Preservation Program.  He is an associate editor for Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, section editor of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Biomedicine On Line. He has been founding member of the International Society for Fertility Preservation (ISFP) and served as President during 2015-2016 .  He has authored 6 books, 476 scientific papers (72 book chapters, 164 peer-reviewed publications and 234 abstracts) and holds 2 issued US patents (diagnostics and therapeutics).  He is Honorary member of the Italian Society of Fertility and Sterility, and is an honorary member Ob/Gyn of Mexico and Chile and has received multiple prize paper awards from ASRM and ESHRE.   Since November 2015 is also Honorary Visiting Professor of Yangzhou University Hospital, Yangzhou, China.  Among his many contributions to the field: a) He co-pioneered the technique of Microsurgical Epididymal sperm Aspiration (MESA); b) discovered that congenital absence of the vas deferens is a mild, genital, form of cystic fibrosis; c) reported microdeletions on the Yq chromosome responsible for severe oligospermia; d) described methods to assess oocyte quality by genetic analysis cumulus cells; and, very recently, e) elucidated the causes of oocyte aging as secondary to follicular and cumulus cells hypoxia.  His main research interests include:  Improving the efficiency of ART, reducing multiple pregnancy, fertility preservation strategies, ovarian aging, simplifying IVF laboratory and methods to lyophilize gametes and stem cells.
