Grants are to be awarded in Geriatrics under the Irma and Paul Milstein Program for Senior Health, Dermatology, Hematology, Reproductive Medicine, and Translational Medicine
The MMAAP Foundation invites the submission of applications in the areas of Geriatrics, Dermatology, Hematology, Reproductive Medicine, and Translational Medicine which will be referred to independent expert panels in the respective fields both in China and in the US. All grant applications will be submitted in China to the Foundation’s website (www.mmaapf.org). The Chinese expert panels will review the applications first and make recommendations for further evaluation by the US expert panels for final selection. In the case of Dermatology and Reproductive Medicine, US expert panels are the Medical Advisory Committee of American Skin Association and Jones Foundation, respectively. Awards will be made to outstanding not-for-profit, medical and scientific institutions in the United States and China to support research and training. The MMAAP Foundation will provide the sole support for these initiatives.
One Fellowship and one Project award will be provided in each of the above five areas except for geriatrics. The Irma and Paul Milstein Program for Senior Health typically awards 3 fellowships each year since 2014. The Fellowship award provides support for promising investigators for one year training in clinical or basic research in the United States at a distinguished partner institution. Individuals selected must have documented research experience. The Project award provides support for a translation research project to be conducted in China that has the potential to affect care in China within 2 years. In order to qualify for funding, Chinese applicants must have demonstrated ability in clinical research. Both awards require the applicants to have command of English in order to successfully collaborate with partnering institutions.
An explicit goal for these awards is to create concrete advances in world health and to produce mutually beneficial partnerships that will facilitate the development of long term relationships between academic institutions in the US and China, as well as greater Asia.
